In a recent interview with the new Spotify service, Spotify Landmark, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's In Utero, bassist Krist Novoselic mentions some of the projects he's been working on lately. One of the things he touches on briefly, is how he contributed bass to one song on the new Modest Mouse album.
And so I did a song with Modest Mouse, earlier this year for their new record. It's pretty edgy. I've got my big Gibson bass and a Rat distortion pedal busting out a... this bass riff.
He then goes on to talk about working with Paul McCartney and Corin Tucker in a bit more detail.
A search for Krist Novoselic and Modest Mouse also returns back an article from the 24th of August last year, in the Twin Cities Daily Planet, that points out that he's been jamming with Modest Mouse for a bit of time.
So how are you spending your time besides political advocacy?
Well I've been doing a little bit of music through the grace of David Eric Grohl and I do a little bit of music with some fellas in Portland. I've been hanging out with Modest Mouse. We're just kind of playing; I don't know what's going on with it.
Spotify is only available in the US, but if you're looking for that part it's part of the Kurt Novoselic In Utero interview, track 16.
