As we last reported, Modest Mouse's first two albums are being reissued on vinyl. Glacial Pace has now set dates and has begun taking pre-orders as of today, although Amazon and other places seemed to have jumped the gun a few days early, leading to a little confusion.
This Is A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About will be released on October 28, while The Lonesome Crowded West will be released on November 4. Both albums are supposed to include their original vinyl only bonus tracks Edit The Sad Parts, A Manic Depressive Named Laughing Boy, and Baby Blue Sedan.
On those same days Glacial Pace will also be releasing acompanying 7"s of tracks recorded at the same time as the albums.
The first, White Lies, Yellow Teeth, will feature the A side of the same name, with the B side being Buttons To Push The Buttons. White Lies, Yellow Teeth had previously been released in 2002 on the compilation album The Giant Rock 'n Roll Swindle, although the version the band has uploaded to SoundCloud does appear to be slightly different. Buttons To Push The Buttons is more commonly known as a live track on the Interstate 8 EP, and lesser known as a studio track on 1998's Zum Audio Vol. 2 compilation.
The second 7", is what was previously thought to have been an Ugly Casanova track, Too Many Fiestas For Reuben, as it was performed live by them/Isaac solo a few times. Its B side, an alternative version of Cowboy Dan. Both tracks are said to have been recorded with Calvin Johnson in Olympia, which may be the November 12, 1994 session, but we should be able to confirm that when these come out.
While nothing completely brand new, this will be the first time some of these tracks have been released in studio form, and will at least make them easier to come by.
All four are available now for pre-order at Glacial Pace, as well as Amazon and a few other places.
