San Diego Street Scene

Modest Mouse will be part of this year's San Diego Street Scene taking place over the weekend of August 28 - 29. They will be joining other acts like Silversun Pickups, The Dead Weather, Cake and the Black Eyed Peas. Let's all hope that Fergie doesn't piss on stage again like she did in 2005... Jack White must be nervous...

Pre-order Autumn Beds

Insound is now taking orders for the Autumn Beds 7" for a June 23 release. The b-side has been revealed to be the Whale Song and the cover art appears to feature spiders with butterfly wings.

No word on if this 7" is going to be limited like the previous one. Thanks to all the people that sent it in.

UPDATE: Pat Graham has said that all the upcoming 7" releases are supposed to be limited to 4000 copies each.

Autumn Beds single to be released June 23?

allmusic.com has added an entry for Autumn Beds, stating that this new single will be coming out on June 23. No word on what it's b-side will be.

Hopefully this will turn out to be true. After the month delay of the Satellite Skin single, and the lack of updates that came with it, fans seem to be concerned that the new EP will be pushed back from it's tentative August 4 release date.

Thanks to mm_2108 for the link.

The Satellite Skin 7" has apparently begun appearing on shelves in record stores a few days early. The sleeve reveals that Guilty Cocker Spaniels is in fact a Good News era song, with Dann Gallucci on keys and Benjamin Weikel on drums. Thanks to Andy for the image.

Where to get Satellite Skin online

Seeing as how the Satellite Skin 7" is getting a limited release of only 4000 copies and there has been virtually no word on which record stores will be carying the release on May 26, it may be easier to purchase it online.

The 7" can be pre-ordered from one of these sites:
  • Skyroo $6.99 + $4.49 shipping (US shipping only)
  • SOLD OUT Insound $7.99 + $4.99 US / $6.99 Canada & Mexico / $9.49+ International shipping
  • Homer's $9.99 + $3.45 US / $7.00 International shipping
All prices in USD.

If you know of any other sites selling the single OR any record store that is guaranteeing they will have the single in store on May 26, let us know so we can list them.

Lost Verses Live

Mark Kozelek of Sun Kil Moon and Red House Painters released a new live album today entitled Lost Verses Live. The album features another two Modest Mouse covers by Kozelek. Mark Kozelek might be best known to Modest Mouse fans (those not familiar with his other work) for releasing Tiny Cities in 2005, an album of Modest Mouse covers.

180 Degrees South Soundtrack / Joe drumming for The Shins

In an interview with Pitchfork, The Shins' James Mercer has stated that they have worked on a mostly instrumental soundtrack to a documentary entitled 180 Degrees South with Isaac, Eric, Tom and Joe.

No word on when the film comes out or if the soundtrack is to be released on its own, but snippets of the music can be found in the trailer on the documentary's website.

The interview also revealed that Joe Plummer is now drumming for The Shins, after the departure of Jesse Sandoval. Joe has been recruited for The Shins' current tour as well as their next album.
