No One's First And You're Next available at Insound

Insound, those wonderful guys and gals that have been making those 7"s far more obtainable for so many of us, are now taking pre-orders for the CD and LP editions of Modest Mouse's new EP No One's First And You're Next. The CD is due out August 4, the LP August 18.

As many may have suspected, it looks as though there is no 4th 7". I'm guessing the original source was wrong or that it didn't make sense to re-release King Rat as another single.

No One's First & You're Next cover art and track list

An online store has revealed the cover art and track listing for Modest Mouse's new EP No One's First & You're Next due out on August 4.
  1. Satellite Skin
  2. Guilty Cocker Spaniels
  3. Autumn Beds
  4. Whale Song
  5. Perpetual Motion Machine
  6. History Sticks To Your Feet
  7. King Rat
  8. I've Got It All (Most)
So if the track list is correct, it would seem that a title originally discussed by the band, Tie The Lake Down, has either been left off or has perhaps evolved into one of the other unheard of songs.

Johnny Marr's current status

Coupled with the fact that many of The Cribs' tour dates conflict with Modest Mouse's upcoming ones, during an interview on June 13 with the BBC when asked if he was in Modest Mouse as well as The Cribs, Johnny Marr said that:

"Modest Mouse has taken a vague hiatus, because Isaac the main guy is doing some music for a film. The thing with Modest Mouse is it's kind of a real bunch of super grown-ups. I can play with them any time I like. We live in the same town of Portland, Oregon and I probably will be popping up on a few of their records. I'm in The Cribs though. The Cribs is the band I get in a van with, go to soundchecks with and live with at the moment."

Jim Fairchild is once again expected to take second guitar duties on the upcoming tour dates.

Thanks to D for the info.

So the rumoured title "History" has been floating around a lot, which was recently revealed to be only the partial title of History Sticks To Your Feet. This track is now believed to be the b-side to the Perpetual Motion Machine 7". Thanks to Melissa for the link.

Modest Mouse in Chicago

Modest Mouse will be performing at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago on August 25. Tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster on June 19 at 10:00am.

The article states that "...will be touring in support of their upcoming EP, No One's First And You're Next." Hopefully this means that the band is planning a full tour for later in the year.

Through the eyes of Pat Graham Volume 2

Pat Graham, the man responsible for exposing the world to photographs such as this one, has put together a second Modest Mouse photozine. It's currently selling from RAEN Optics for $10. The last photozine was limited to 1200 copies.

If you enjoy the work of Pat Graham, you might also find interesting the book he released in 2007 entitled Silent Pictures.

Missed getting a copy of the Autumn Beds 7

The Autumn Beds 7" is now being sold through Modest Mouse's store at Skyroo in case you missed out getting a copy from Insound. It's being pressed on black vinyl and like before, is limited to 4000 copies. It will also be seeing an iTunes release on the same day that it's available in store, June 23.

In Perpetual Motion Machine news - while the record is being sold from Tower Records (at double the cost) and other lesser known stores on the web, many people have asked us when it will be available from Insound. They have informed us that they will be taking orders soon and that they are just waiting on the cover art from the label. They unfortunately are also in the dark about what the b-side will be. We'll keep you posted.

Perpetual Motion Machine

So here's an interesting way to start the weekend... The next 7" in line to be released from Modest Mouse is called "Perpetual Motion Machine" and is due for release on July 21.

The artwork seems to once again be sticking to the wings/insect theme. The A side, the unheard of, Perpetual Motion Machine. The B side, no idea...

And here's some more good news (well kind of), Tower Records is already taking pre-orders. Although the price is pretty steep at $15.02 for two songs.

Thanks to overpwredbyfunk for the links.
